Fishing trip 7/11/09. We took a week off from fishing since we had fished 3 tournaments back to back. Ricky wanted to scout out some new spots this trip. We tried all new places and had a great day! Now we've got some great new hot spots! David caught a 40+lb AJ this trip. We kept two kings, and was able to safely catch and release another that was about the same size, 4 snappers, 4 AJ's, several scamp and white snapper. We also caught what we think is a toad fish, we'll have to wait for Brent(our resident fish biologist) to get home to tell us for sure. Pretty good for an expedition trip!

Ricky had this spread out for me Sunday morning. He had actually forgotten he had the fish bag, but remembered as we walked the boardwalk on Sunday and went passed Go Fish where he bought it! We spent our anniversary weekend fishing and actually ate pizza (w/ Brent) on P'cola Beach Boardwalk that night. We got to officially celebrate Wednesday night at our favorite restaurant, Bonefish. We ordered bacon wrapped scallops for appetizers, for the main course Ricky ordered tuna in lemon/butter sauce and I ordered sea bass, but couldn't decide between the mango salsa and the pan Asian sauce, so they brought me both on the side. We both got the same sides, augratin potatoes and baked zucchini. Then, we shared dessert, our favorite, creme brulee!! Yummy! I gave Ricky 4 Auburn Homecoming tickets....Happy Anniversary, honey!

Bud Light King Mack Tourney June 27-28, 2009

First Place Dolphin, 12.15 lbs. (2ND Place was 12.13lbs, only 2 dolphins weighed in) and 3rd Place Junior Angler w/ a 19.19 King Mack. I love the last picture. The kids and I went to the beach last week, Brent swam/surf fished in his shirt and didn't bring another to change into, so we went into Islander's on the boardwalk and he picked out that shirt, they were buy one get one 1/2 half off, so he picked out the other for Ricky and insisted they wear them to out to Flounders. So cute!

June 18-21, 2009, Bill Hargreaves's Tournament, Ricky came away w/ first place Scamp! Brent and I both caught some nice fish, but this tourney only awarded first place. That dolphin came right up to the boat, off Ft. Pickens and stayed awhile! He acted almost tame.

We had a long, but great day fishing! Ricky, Lynn, brother-in-law, Michael and friend, Ken caught a variety of fish 6-13-09. Ricky and Michael caught two 20-21 pounders. Michael's was a gag and Ricky's was an almaco jack. We caught our limit of grouper, mostly scamp, some snapper and two of the strangest looking fish...locally they are called, "hake" but their scientific name is bearded brotula. What the hake are they?!

We have fished two tournaments in June so far, Queen of Kings and Outcast Family Fishing. We placed in both. Third place King Mack w/ a 28 pounder and and 88.66 wahoo boated by Ricky's mom. In the Outcast, I got 2nd place King Mack w/ one 22 lbs., and Brent had First Place hardtail (almost 4 lbs.) and 2nd Place Grouper (8 lbs) in the Junior Division. We have at least 2 more tourneys in June, one major one the Bud Light King Mack and the other another Family one.

Today, in my 2nd grade class, we were reviewing language skills, specifically editing sentences for errors. I gave out the worksheet, read the first question, "Have you seed my backpack?" and was about to ask "What's wrong with this sentence?", when one of my students called out, "What color it is?" I couldn't contain my laughter while explaining that I didn't really have a backpack I was looking for, never mind that he didn't recognize that "seed" was wrong!

Chocolate Milk Bay or Pensacola Pass?

Ricky and I tried to fish last Saturday. It was cold, rough and windy. We didn't go but about 10 miles out. I could barely stand and drop my line. We headed back in and got in the procession of cobia fisherman along the beach. Pensacola Pass and the water around the bend off Ft. Pickens was the color of chocolate milk from all the rain. It was d-i-r-t-y!

Day two of our spring break actually turned out to be a nice day. It was sunny and warmer at Pensacola Beach, but it was still very windy, even more than Monday. The yellow flag was out yesterday, but they had a red flag flying today, along with the purple one because of all the
man-o-wars washed ashore. It was cloudy and overcast at home, but when we passed the bridge, it was like looking at heaven with blue skies and sunshine all around! Brent and I were solo today. We had a great mom and son day. First, we went goofy golfing. Boy was that a challenge between the wind blowing the ball off course(literally!) and it blinding me with my hair in my eyes. Where was Emily when I needed her with a spare pony tail holder?! We had fun though. We let one mom and son play through since the little boy seemed to think this was some kind of kamikaze speed course (I was trying to take pictures, so we were a little slow, but not that slow!). Then we headed down to "our beach" where Ricky and I got married 9 months ago and did a little sea shell hunting. Brent spent most of his time torpedoing all the man-o-wars. All in all is was a great, relaxing day. Now let's just hope the weatherman is wrong about the rest of the week!

Spring Break 09

Looks like Spring Break 09 is gonna be cool, cloudy and maybe a little too rainy for me! We went down to Chicken Bone Beach today, Ricky grilled some burgers and we braved the very cool and brisk breeze(gail force, I think!) coming off the water. Brent tried a little surf fishing and built a nice sand castle. He even had an elderly couple walk over and admire his work. It was so sweet (she was in a velour sweat suit, that's how cool it was!). The girls tried to get their tans started, and Ricky tried to take a nap. I'm not sure if either ones were successful! As long as you were in the sun, it was OK, but later in the day it got pretty cloudy, so it felt really cold. We packed up about 3:30, walked the boardwalk a while and headed for home. The weather man isn't forecasting any more sunny days until Sunday again! BUT on the bright side, at least my closets will get some much needed spring cleaning! I've posted pictures of our day minus the ones of Ricky sleeping that he deleted!
I also posted two new pictures of our nephews, Brady and Whit. Ricky and I got to visit with them on Sunday. They are really growing and walking, I mean running, all over the place now.

Going Green

The Ground Hog predicted 6 more weeks of winter back on Feb. 2nd (my birthday btw!) and looks like he was right on the money! Spring has finally arrived and no one is more grateful than me. I couldn't live up North where it's still cold! Our flowers we planted in the dead of winter are all blooming and beautiful. We couldn't have asked for a prettier day today, except can we get some calm seas thrown in there too, please?! We want, we NEED to get in the boat and catch some fish! Our garden that Ricky planted is growing too. The potatoes and corn are growing and some of the spinach is ready to be picked. We can't wait for it all to be ready! He'll be planting the watermelons soon. We also got turnips, squash and okra. We couldn't believe how well the garden did last year, so we expect more of the same delicious and fresh veggies and fruit this year too! It is so nice to be able get dinner right out of the garden rather than the produce department at the grocery store.

Ricky has been after me to start writing down some of the things my second graders say. Well, here goes. This week was the great debate over whether the Tooth Fairy was your mom or not. One little boy said his sister told him it was their mom, but he didn't believe her. Another little girl, quickly quited that rumor by saying, she had lost two teeth and put them under her pillow last night and THE Tooth Fairy left her a note and $2.00. She added that I know my mom's not the Tooth Fairy 'cause she's gone on a cruise this week with my dad! It never occured to her grandma...anyway...And those two teeth she lost, it was a boody battle in class the day before! It was bloodiest tooth removal I've been privy to, but she was desperate to get those two front teeth out once and for all! I kept sending her to the sink to rinse her mouth out, and when she finally pried one loose, she proudly announced it with a big huge bloody, and toothless smile!

Another one of my students was escorted to class yesterday morning because he had been telling everyone he was blind(he's new, 2nd day) and was bumping into walls(because his eyes were closed!). I asked him why he thought he was blind and he said that his mom told him he was before he left for school. I said, "Did you have trouble finding your shoes or your bookbag this morning? He answered, Yes. I responded with, "I see, and is that when mom said you were blind?" YEP! He also told me later that day that his mom wanted me to know that he was "ADHB", only teachers can appreciate that! (It should be ADHD!) I asked him what the "B" stood for and he said, "I guess, bad??" Lucky me!

February Fabulosity

It's the middle of February and I do not have any new pictures to post, but hope to soon! My new mom in law, Carolyn's birthday was January 31, Happy Birthday! Mine was February 2. We had a fish fry for both our birthdays on the 31st. OK I will admit, I do have a couple of pictures from singing happy birthday that day, but they were terrible, so I cannot bring myself to post them! I'm 5'8' in no heels and Carolyn is at least a foot shorter (I think more)than me, so as usual I looked like an Amazon woman! We'll have to sit next to one another for the next mother-daughter-in -law pic! Plus, with my back hurting, hair styling has gone out the window, so let's just say, I didn't look so hot ! However, we had a great day, great food and great fellowship with our family and friends who were able to come. Whit and Brady were a hit with everyone. They were such good sports with all the new faces wanting to hold them, but they were too tired and finally gave up trying and started crying simultaneously. Too sweet. We want to see them again very soon!
Ricky and I have been able to fish only once since getting the new boat, and it wasn't a calm, beautiful day, but choppy and VERY cold. On the way in, I asked him, How much further? I thought he said 7 miles (he really said 11). Later, I asked again, How much further? He said 6 miles. I was like, what? we've only gone a mile? Can't this thing move any faster? He said YES!, but it will get colder! I told him to let it rip because I was already NUMB! He opened it up to about 48 MPH! We were at the pass in no time! We caught some fish, a lot that had to be thrown back (snapper, or A.J.'s that were too small), but we caught enough for a few good meals! Sorry, again no pics..it was too cold! We are waiting on a pretty calm day or for my back to get 100% better ASAP before we head out again. Pray for calm seas and for bulging discs to be sucked back into place! Ricky's getting restless!
Ricky sent me a pretty bouquet of Valentine flowers to work on Friday. I love that Mr. Jones! Hey, I can take a belated picture of them and post that, yeah there's an idea!

IPOD vs the Washer, IPOD wins!

Well, after several days of alternating blow drying and sitting in a bag of rice to absorb the extra moisture, the IPOD came back to life! Brent says it had a few glitches at first, but it seems to be working OK. There is hope after laundry disasters!

Update on my sister

I just wanted to give an update on my sister, Laura. She was diagnosed with breast cancer a few months ago. She did well after her surgery with the exception of an infection she got 3 weeks afterwards. That has cleared. She has been given a great prognosis and we all feel very blessed!The cancer was not in her lymph nodes and her BR AC test was negative. She will be taking a supplement for the next 5 years, but no chemo or radiation was needed after the masectomy. Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers.

Ricky and I were able to go see Whit and Brady for the First Birthday party! What a miracle they are! They were so good even though they were sleepy. They dappled in the birthday cake and almost made it through opening all their presents. As Whit was being rocked to sleep, he paused a minute to wave bye-bye to the cars he could see leaving out the window and then he also blew them kisses! Brady decided he didn't want to nap just yet and played a little while longer, I got the cutest picture of him showing off all those teeth he's been cutting!

December 2008

December has flown by! A Merry Christmas was had by all! Ricky and I had my family over for Christmas Eve lunch and presents. All we had to make this time was mashed potatoes and black eyed peas. My sister, Laura brought the turkey and my brother, Tim brought a Honeybaked ham. The 23rd, the kids and I spent the day using Aunt Laura's famous cookie dough to make sugar cookies. Emily rolled, cut and baked them and Brent and I decorated them with frosting and sprinkles...my booty is getting bigger just thinking about it again! And of course Aunt Laura brought boocoodles of more freshly baked cookies and confections(her specialty).
Christmas day we got up with Emily and Brent who ripped through all their presents at a record pace! Everyone was excited about what they got! Santa was good to us! The kids got new I-Pods, I got a jewelry chest and Ricky got an ax! Yes, an axe! I was even able to slip a few things under the tree for Ricky that he didn't know he was getting and believe me, that's an accomplishment! I cooked a quick breakfast and then Ricky started loading the car for our trip to Munson and Andalusia.
We had a nice lunch with his dad and Lucy and supper at his Mom's. Love Love Love Carolyn's dumplings! We had such a blessed and great Christmas . We are so thankful for everything everyone gave us and for being able to spend Christmas with our families.
I didn't take any pictures Christmas Eve, but my sister did, so I have to get those from her, but I got some from Christmas at the Morris'. The boys were adorable learning to push their walker toys we got them. Watch out, Wendy and Michael, they'll be walking in no time!

Thanksgiving/November 08

It has been a while since I lasted posted. I have had sciatica and haven't been able to sit for long, but the chiropractor I'm seeing has me on the road to recovery! November was busy month. After AU homecoming, we had Dave and Mandi's wedding to attend in Andalusia the weekend before Thanksgiving and I have NO pictures from that even though everyone looked rosy cheeked and radiant. You see we remembered to bring the camera, but left the battery on charge at home!It was the coldest night of the year, but it was a beautiful ceremony with the horses in the background. Brent absolutely loved the fire pit and stayed glued to it...only left it to down some boiled peanuts and Emily wrapped up in one of Mandi's blankets and stayed close to the heater.
The next weekend, Ricky and I hosted my family and Ricky's mom for Thanksgiving and I was so busy hosting that I didn't get any pics of that either! But my first turkey turned out perfect and juicy! Whew! We also got to visit with Wendy and the boys at the Jones' house in Munson that week. And I posted those precious pics of the twins. Wendy was even able to come by our house for the first time and have lunch before heading back home. Whit and Brady had fun cruising around the family room and sitting on Ricky's motorcycle. Brady didn't want to get off. Wendy has those pics posted on her blog.

Auburn Homecoming 2008

The Tennessee Martins went from being the Sky hawks to the Chicken hawks at Auburn's Homecoming Game. War Eagle! We were so happy they won. We had a full day. Got up at 6 am, left for Auburn and got there about 10:30 am, drove Emily around the Vet School, visited the book store for a few souvenirs, played some games they had set up for the kids, watched the Tiger Walk, walked to the Forestry Center for their BBQ lunch and then it was almost time for the game. We were able to get 4 tickets (thank goodness) right outside the stadium and made it in time to see the eagle fly! So all was good! Afterwards, we walked to Toomers' Corner and let the kids roll the trees(Ricky too!). The drug store was very crowded so we didn't get any lemonade this visit, but we did go in the store next door called Auburn Art and found some beautiful Auburn decor! They had the prettiest Christmas ornaments and a blue Christmas tree all decked in blue and orange! We made it home about 11:30 pm. Long day, but worth the fun! Can't wait for next year!

Auburn Here We Come!

I have literally loaded all of the recent and decent pics (not that I have any UNdecent ones, just some not so flattering!Ha Ha) that I have on our camera now! BUT there will be more soon!
Ricky, Emily, Brent and I are headed up to Auburn this weekend for homecoming. We are bringing nothing but goodluck with us! Brent will simply die if he doesn't get to toliet paper roll that square! He is also looking forward to seeing Aubie and the eagle fly. We went over to Bama Fever/Tiger Pride in Malbis to get some new T-shirts...we are all wearing blue, not orange since I am going to try and get some pics to use for Christmas cards and I thought the orange might clash.

Halloween

Brent went to a Halloween party last night dressed as local golfer, Boo Weekly complete with camo undershirt and Big League Chew(gum) in his back pocket. Emily is at a rodeo in Georgia. So Ricky and I decided to go to one of our favorite restaurants in Pensacola, Madison's. It's in the old Sacred Heart Hospital built in the 1900's. The building is made of stone and literally looks like a castle. The restaurant itself is where the nuns quarters once were. The food was delicious. Ricky had grilled tuna and I got pecan-crusted shrimp. Afterwards, we went downtown to Seville Square to see what was going on for Halloween and saw boo-coodles of people walking in groups with tour guides in costume. It was Historic Pensacola's annual Ghost Walks. We joined in. It was a lot of fun hearing the old ghost tales and learning more about Pensacola's history. As the guide was telling a tale about a ghost in front of the Barkley House a whole bunch of birds swooped down out of the oak tree above our heads and we all just about peed in our pants!

I was able to figure out the slideshow business, so don't get dizzy watching them both! I put one picture of the grape tree in the honeymoon slideshow twice by accident, but I was scared to try and fix it.
Did you spot the black and green hummingbird hiding in the one pic? Ricky worked hard to get that shot! There were about three couples trying to get a picture of that bird at the same time, it was very funny watching all of us chasing that fast little booger in circles around the resort grounds!
